This grant is conceived and primarily funded by FAMU alumnae Kristy Tillman. As a student, there were many times a quick direct gift made all the difference in her ability to matriculate. Kristy also gives formally to the University through the FAMU Foundation.
At times there may be additional funders, and those people if they choose, will be made known for that month.
You can apply unlimited times, but if you are eventually awarded a grant you are not eligible to receive another grant for a year.
This grant is purposely sized at $500 because it is just enough to make a material difference in the life of a college student, but not so much that it necessitates a more significant and rigorous distribution and application process that impedes our ability to directly help.
Application data will be held confidentially and only accessed for evaluation purposes.
Sure please send an email to grants@tomorrowlooksbright.com
The grant will be awarded to you via PayPal only. The name on your PayPal account must match your application.
At minimum, 2 grants are awarded each month–one undergraduate (The Dr. Sybil Mobley grant) and one graduate (The Dr. Frederick S. Humphries grant). More grants may be funded in a particular month if there are a surplus of funders.
This information will be available on the application page each month.
This grant is not a “hardship” grant. Meaning we don’t exist solely to fill the most dire requests although we will strongly consider those. We want to encourage FAMU students to have a well-rounded college experience, therefore we will consider a wide-range of intended uses. Some examples might include: groceries, a plane ticket home, pledge fees, box braids to last throughout an internship, childcare expenses, a new suit for SBI.
Please consult the Office of Financial Aid and/or a tax professional about your individual case.
No, grants are for currently enrolled students only.
During the application process you can tell us whether you’re okay with being public or would prefer to remain anonymous.
